Article #15298: Limit of characters for a TEditFile part II

 Question and Answer Database
FAQ298C.txt Limit of characters for a TEditFile part II
Category :OWL
Platform :All
Product :BC++ 5.x
Question:
The WIN32 online help says I can send an EM_LIMITTEXT with a
parameter of zero ( -1 also works ) to set the limit of text
in an Edit control to 0xFFFFFFFF but it still seems to be limited
to about 60K under Windows 95.
Answer:
This may be a bug in the WIN32 help or in Windows 95. This step
will indeed increase the size of an Edit control under WIN NT.
MSDN articles state outright that it works for NT ( and it succeeds
in test cases ) but there is no explicit MSDN reference stating
this should work for Windows 95. Use of a rich edit control may be an
alternate solution.
