Category :Install Issues
Platform :Windows 95
Product :C++Builder3.x,
Question:
How do I fix Builder 3 so that it doesn't freeze in
windows 98 if I have an S3 card?
Answer:
First you have to go about removing the splash screen.
Just put a -ns outside of the quotes' in the shortcut.
Then, you have to change the graphics card and drivers.
Hop over to http://www.s3.com and grab yourself a set
of drivers that are for whatever chipset you have. Then
install these in the hardware settings for your video
card. You should now be good to go.
The problem can also be alleviated by removing some of
the design time packages from the pallette.
To do this, start your machine in SAFE MODE, start CBuilder,
goto Componments -> Install Packages.
Select one or two of the packages listed that you probably aren't
going to use, (I suggest the NetMasters Fastnet tools and the
Borland 1.0 Compatability components) and 'Remove' them. This will
ease the strain on the faulty video hardware.
