Question:While working with the Access 97 database through the BDE, I've run into a recurring access violation. The database opens in Database Explorer. When attempting to expand the Tables folder an Access Violation occurs. Why? Answer:This problem is most commonly encountered when using an older distribution of Windows95 or Windows98 without Internet Explorer 4. An OLE update is included with the IE 4.01 service pack that is needed by the BDE. To solve this problem, either install IE 4 with the service pack or install DCOM95, which also updates OLE libraries. Both of these are available through Microsoft's website. |
