FAQ4603D.txt — Computer freezes when Delphi is started under Windows 98
Category :Install Issues
Platform :Windows 98
Product :Delphi4.x,
Question:
My system freezes when I start Delphi ? I don't even see the splash screen.
How can I fix this?
Answer:
Delphi 4 will not run on Windows 98 if the display is set to 16 colors or less.
This may cause the system to freeze during installation also.
This can be fixed by changing the display color palette.
Go to Control Panel/Display/Settings/, change the color palette setting to
something greater than 16 color, such as 256 color, High Color (16-bit) or
True Color (32-bit). If you do not have these options you may need to
update your video driver.
